The Birth of the D Unit

There are moments in time that shape the future forever. Moments that define the path for humankind and help to lead us into the promiseland. Moments that we can look back on and say... "That was the moment in our past that shaped the way we live today." C Whyte is a pioneer and helped the construction of what we now call the D Unit. The D Unit is an exclusive group of individuals that live by certain ideals of honor and pride. I can look back on a single day that helped to shape the D Unit and began a revolution of a legendary group that has shaped the past few years into what it is today, and CW is responsible for the beginning of something great. A ray of light in a land of darkness and shadows.

It all started on the day before Valentine's Day 2003 when a roadie began and lives were changed forever. That was the day that CW evolved from a leader into a legacy. It began in San Luis Obispo where DY, Noodles, Etch and I set out on what we liked to call our anti-valentine's day roadie celebration. We hit the road on our way to Davis with a stop over in San Jose, where we were
to pick up CWhyte. This was our way to forget about all of the hype that was Valentine's Day. Our first stop was DY's house where we called CWhyte to see what his plan was. He said he was down and we planned to pick him up after we ate. That was the day that The D Unit was born, surrounded by the "Bros before Hos" ideal and the mindset that we are in college and this is the time of our lives to make long roadies together. We couldn't help but show a new, more extravagant, respect for CWhyte and we created the D Unit in his honor. The
core members of DY, Noodles, CWhyte and myself created a bond that day that will not be broken. Time stood still for us that weekend and while everyone else was out spoiling their significant others, CWhyte was with his boys living the good life in Davis.

I salute you CWhyte and I thank you for creating an ideal we all can live by in peace and happiness. It was that day that has created the legendary D Unit and it has spread ever since into a legacy. You are a hero among men and you proved that you are not just any candidate for the position of President of the United States... but you are a living legend, of which a holiday will be named after you. I pledge the day before Valentine's Day be known as C Whyte Day. For all of us out there that dream of a better tomorrow and remember the good times of yesterday.
